This is an online article written by Emily Friedman on May 20, 2009. In this true story, a woman and her son fled from his cancer treatment. He has Hodgkin's lymphoma disease and doctors believe that he needs his chemotherapy treatment or he will die. The two believe that all natural treatment is the way to go. I am not sure that I can judge this mothers choice. I have no idea the situation she was in. I do not know whether taking the treatment or refusing the treatment was the correct decision. The situation this mother was in for her choice to run away from the cancer treatment was probably very difficult and well thought through. I also do not know the boy's opinion on what he wanted to do. And lastly I do not know the religious beliefs of the family that could have impacted the decision. The natural treatment could work or it could not. But the chemotherapy could have worked or it could not. I believe that the court should not tell the family what they have to do, this is the family's decision.
